Photoshop Tutorials : Multi-Stroking a Path
| Stroking is useful. It's great for borders, outlines, and various what-not. It has been my experience that the most common form of stroking is Edit > Stroke to stroke a selecton, but that is not the only form of stroking in Adobe Photoshop.
